Historical Synopsis

1999, September 12 * Friends of Dorothy Bowling League Founded

Diane Kilby prepared a document on the history of the Friends of Dorothy Bowling League from its inception on September 12, 1999 to the end of Season 6 on May 15, 2005. The document contains the names of most participants in any given season, the team names, and also various events sponsored by the League. Some of that information is included in this chronology. We begin with information on the first season. “Season 1: 1999-2000. League Founded by Phil Vandermolen who acted as league executive for most of the year. The first full elected executive would be in Season 2. 1st day of league bowling: September 12, 1999. Season: September 12, 1999 to June 2, 2000. 1st bowling in January was January 9, 2000.” The league began with two teams: Right Up Dorothy's Alley and Pink Tornadoes. Later that year, 3 more teams were added: Alley Divas, Gutter Girls, and Toto's Revenge, for a total of 5 teams and 22 bowlers. During the first season, on May 13, 2000 there was a charity fundraising tournament. At the close of the season, on June 10, 2000, there was a Bowling Banquet at a member's home.
