This is a relatively complete list of dances that WUGLM arranged from 1972 to 1973. NOTES: IOOF = the Oddfellows Hall on Lodge Street in Waterloo. Hammer House = Hammarskjold House (largely demolished in 2005), part of the Waterloo Co-Operative Residence Inc. Jason's was a local dance spot in Kitchener. The small handwriting in the upper righthand corner reads: “short of staff & didn't have turntables So - JW & BK taped it on a reel to reel tape the night before & played it back the next day” |

The notes, although clearly written in haste and bordering on illegibility in places, contain much interesting information about what transpired when the Faces group took over running dances in 1974 and sold this service to WUGLM. The dates of about 50 Bridgeport dances from 1974 to 1976 are given, as well as attendance numbers for some of them. We have appended a print transcription of the handwritten notes. |

Because of the unusually large size of the poster, it was difficult to scan the entire image; all of the side margins of pale blue were sacrificed, and also a tiny bit of the image on the left-hand side; the top and bottom pale-blue margins were also cropped a bit. Our PDF file was created as if it were of an image on A3 paper (42.0 cm x 29.7 cm); because of the significant cropping of the side margins and the slight cropping at the top and bottom, the PDF (at 100% magnification) will be a close match to the correct size of the poster. |

Although the year is not stated, there is strong evidence supporting the choice of 1981 as the year: (1) these two flyers were located in a donated collection of materials primarily from 1978 to 1988, (2) the only years in that range with an October 2 on Friday are 1981 and 1987, and (3) the costs quoted are consistent with what GLOW was charging in the early 1980s. |

The poster does not give the year; we deduce 1986 as the most likely year, by the following arguments. The name GLLOW was in use from October 1985 to October 1998. The only years in that span where May 31 fell on a Saturday were 1986 and 1997. GLLOW advertized other events at the Cabaret in 1988 and 1989, but no later. The admission costs listed are closer to those for 1988 than 1989. Hence 1986 seems the most likely year. |

The first poster lacks the year, but gives Friday as the day of the week. The dance club Circles was in existence under that name only from 1990 to 1992. The only year in that range in which October 25 fell on Friday was 1991. The second poster is more problematic; it omits both the year and the day of the week. Because of the similarity in the text on the bottom half of both posters, and the fact that all of the GLLOW dances held at Circles that we know of were held on Fridays, we are taking these two posters as being for the same event. Note: in 1990, October 25 fell on Thursday, and in 1992, October 25 fell on Sunday; this strengthens the argument that the year of the second poster was also 1991. |

Although this poster gave the year for the celebrations, it inexplicably omitted the month and days of the month. National Coming Out Day is internationally recognized as October 11, which occurred on a Thursday in 2007. So, for the week listed as Sunday to Saturday in the poster to have included Thursday October 11, GLOW's Coming Out Week would have had to been from October 7 (Sunday) to October 13 (Saturday). |
